PRO


Class Description

The PRO class consists of Door Cars, both back-halved and full tube chassis. All entries must be capable of running 7.50 1/4 mile or quicker ET. PRO cars are and can be Turbocharged, Supercharged, Nitrous Injected and Big C.I. Street Cars capable of running at over 200mph.

CLASS GUIDELINES

BODY:

Steel, aluminum, fiberglass and carbon fiber bodies and body parts are allowed as long as the car retains it's original appearance and profile (weight add for “Non-Traditional”). The drivers and passenger doors must be fully operational and must open from the outside. Rear wings are allowed, but may not extend more than 28 inches from the transition point with the body to the tip. The WCHRA reserves the right to add weight penalties for any body modifications that do not meet the current rule guidelines.

HOOD / SCOOPS:

No Restrictions

LETTERING / DECALS:

Decals may be a permanent fixture on body, per approval from a WCHRA Official.

Contingency Program & Contingency Decals:

In order to become eligible for WCHRA official contingency program, You must be a member of the WCHRA. You can do this at the WCHRA Event Trailer during registration or on-line at the WCHRA Store. It is the racer's responsibility to obtain the proper decals from the WCHRA or the Manufacturer to be eligible for the contingency payout. All contingency decals may appear anywhere on the windows in a clear and organized fashion. Contingency decals may not be overlapped or modified.

BALLAST:

Permanently attached ballast may be added in a NHRA legal manner. Removable ballast for the purpose of classification adjustments is limited to 100 lbs. in a NHRA weight box.

FIREWALL:

Moving stock firewall rearward for engine installation permitted. Each car must be equipped with a minimum of .024-inch steel or .032-inch aluminum firewall, extending from side to side of the body and from the top of the engine compartments upper seal (hood, cowl, or deck) to the bottom of the floor and / or belly pan.

SEAT LOCATION:

One front seat with upholstery required with no other restrictions.

WINDOWS:

Must be of safety glass (Plexi-glass, Lexan) or other shatter-proof materials, minimum of 1/8th in. thick.

RACING AIDS:

The use of bracket racing aids such as optical sensors, delay boxes, stutter boxes, and throttle stops are not allowed.

BRAKES:

Four wheel brakes required. Line locks are permitted.

CHASSIS / SUSPENSION:

Any chassis and suspension combination that passes NHRA safety standards is allowed.

DRIVE TRAIN:

Any rear-end, gear ratio and transmission are allowed. Automatic transmissions may use a trans-brake air or electric shifters.

ELECTRICAL:

Battery may be relocated. Electric fans and water pump drives are allowed. The charging system is optional and is not required.

Ignition:

Entries may utilize only 1 Distributor or 1 Mag’.

ENGINE BLOCK:

No restrictions

ENGINE MOUNTLOCATION:

The maximum allowable engine setback can not be greater than 10% of the wheelbase as measured from centerline of front spindle to center of furthest forward spark plug hole.

HEADS:

Any cylinder head is allowed as long as only 1 spark plug per cylinder is functional.

EXHAUST:

Mufflers are not required. Headers must have 4/1 single outlet collector and collector must be at least four inches in length. Exhaust may not protrude more than 3 inches from body. Zoomies may be fabricated with a single collector in the format listed within the rule. Any racer with Zoomie (four outlet) exhaust will not be allowed to participate!

FUEL / FUEL SYSTEMS:

Gasoline & Alcohol only (No Nitro) The WCHRA reserves the right to check gasoline at any time during competition. The addition of chemical additives intended to alter the makeup of the gasoline for increased performance is strictly prohibited. During fuel check, a competitor must identify the brand of gasoline being used. The sample will be considered illegal if it does not match the baseline results (ex. color, dielectric reading +or-.2, and chemical tests) logged by WCHRA. Failure to pass fuel check is grounds for disqualification from the event.

INDUCTION

NITROUS OXIDE:

All nitrous systems are allowed. Nitrous oxide commercially available, thermostatically controlled blanket-type warmer accepted. Any other external heating of bottles prohibited. The use of any agents other than nitrous oxide as part of, or mixed with, this pressurized fuel system is prohibited. Nitrous oxide may not be used in conjunction with supercharger or turbochargers. If an entry is presented to tech as a non-nitrous weight break, all nitrous oxide lines, fittings, solenoids, and bottles must be removed before car is allowed to pass tech.

SUPERCHARGER / TURBOCHARGER:

Single or multiple supercharger or turbocharger allowed Screw Superchargers are not allowed. Two-stage superchargers or turbo units are not allowed (twin superchargers or turbo units must share a common plenum). Intercoolers are allowed. Roots-type limited to single supercharger per engine. Roots-type size limited to 14-71; 19 inches maximum rotor length, 11 1/4-inch case width, rotor cavity diameter 5.840 inches maximum, variable multi-speed supercharger devices prohibited. Supercharger restraint systems required on Roots-type units. Nitrous oxide not allowed in combination with supercharger or turbocharger. Single Turbocharger-no max, Twin Turbocharger-91mm.

OILING SYSTEM:

No restrictions

ON BOARD DIAGNOSTICS / DATA RECORDERS:

No restrictions

PARACHUTE:

Required on all entries.

STREET LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:

Car must appear to look streetable. Driving lights and Brake lights, are requested but not required to function.

TIRES:

Front tires must have a minimum tread width of 4.5 inches. Front tires do not have to be DOT approved. Rear tires have no limitations. The tread of the tires must not protrude outside the body line at the top of the tire.

RACEDAY POLICY'S

SCALES:

After each qualifying and elimination pass, all cars must stop and weigh at the track scales. If you lose in eliminations, and your opponent fails to make weight you may be reinstated into the eliminations only if you’ve made minimum weight requirements. If both cars failed to make minimum weight, both cars will be disqualified. It is the driver's responsibility to verify with each track scale, the weight of his/her car prior to each race day. There will 5lb error factor allowed.

TOW BACK & TOW VEHICLES:

All Pro Street entries are allowed to tow to staging lanes, track scales and down return road with a tow vehicle All tow vehicles will be subject to search by a WCHRA Official at any time.

BYE-RUNS:

All vehicles must take the tree, and run down the 1/4 mile.

All drivers and vehicles must meet current NHRA and track requirements.

OUTLAW 10.5


Class Description

Outlaw 10.5 was developed to bring the traditional outlaw class run throughout the U.S. to the west coast. These back-halved cars will surely add to the excitement of theWEST COAST HOT ROD ASSOCIATION.

CLASS GUIDELINES:

Body:

Vehicle can be any factory produced coupe, sedan, sports car, truck or sedan delivery. Must retain complete stock roof, quarters, door jams, pillar post and cowl. All other body components may be composite or other light material. They must be in factory dimensions. Channeling, chopping, sectioning or any other alterations to alter length, width or height strictly prohibited.

Doors:

Doors must be functional from both inside and outside of vehicle. Exact duplicates in carbon fiber or fiberglass are allowed.

Firewall:

Firewall is preferred in OEM produced location. It may be notched for bell housing, distributor, blower and exhaust. Smoothing of firewall allowed. Firewall must consist of sheet metal (steel). Firewall may not be completely replaced with sheet metal. In cases of fiberglass or SMC firewall sheet metal must cover entire firewall. * If altered, engine must not rest further back than original firewall location.

Floor:

Stock floor may be replaced with .024 steel or .032 aluminum. Driver side floor must be steel. It must extend from firewall to rear of driver’s seat and must be welded in place. No magnesium may be used in driver compartment.

Hood and Front End:

One-piece liftoff type front end allowed. Hood must be separate from front fenders and bumper.

Headlights and Tail Lights:

Vehicle must have functioning headlights and taillights. They must be in the factory location and must be stock in appearance. Tail light must function with brakes. Hide-away headlamp style vehicles must have some type of working headlights, at least behind headlight grill. In case of hidden headlights that completely fold away with no grills, fog lights may be used. (Tech decision will be final).

Spoilers:

Are limited to 20” from the body transition point to the trailing edge. Spill plate size limited to 8” maximum height and 36" in length. Spoiler must be a maximum of 4” wider than the each side of deck lid or hatch. (Allowance for wider quarter panel to be determined at tech inspection).

Windshield/Windows:

Lexan may be used in place of factory glass. Must be stock dimension and mount in stock location.

Body Length:

Plus or minus 2” from factory dimension.

Chassis:

Back half chassis only. Chassis certification must comply with the race track and/or sanctioning bodies required guidelines in regards to speeds and ET's obtained. No full round tube chassis allowed. Back half section must not extend forward past rear most portion of the K-member or cross member. Stock frame rails from the firewall forward must be retained with a minimum of four (4) inches forward of the front engine mounting plate.

Driver location:

Must be in stock location. Driver’s shoulder must not be rearward of forward most portion of b-pillar. (Exception for taller drivers, allowed by tech inspection).

Front Suspension:
Stock type and configuration front suspension required. All lower control arms must bolt to the K-member or cross member. No suspension component can be mounted to strut tube or lower mainframe rail. After market spindles and a-arms allowed. Modifying of shock/strut towers allowed for header and engine clearance only. Must retain at least 50% of original tower. Upper strut tube may be graphed in to strut/shock tower. Spring and or shock may be relocated (tech decision final). Bolt-on front end kits are legal.


Rear Suspension:

Any rear suspension system permitted, a minimum of two (2) hydraulic-shock absorbers. No rigid mounted rear axels allowed.

Ground Clearance:

Three inch (3”) minimum for entire length of vehicle and all components (headers, oil pan, chassis). ECT.

Wheelbase:

Maximum of one inch (1”) plus or minus, from factory dimension.

Engine:

Any engine size allowed. Limited to single engine (automotive type).

Exhaust:

Must have functional production mufflers mounted in the exhaust flow, except turbo entries.
Exhaust must be directed toward rear of vehicle and must exit at least 12” behind rear of front axle centerline.

Electronics:

All electronic devises allowed except optical censoring devise that work off of tree.

Transmission:

Any type transmission allowed, must have a neutral safety switch.

Wheels and Tires:

Must be automotive type designed for racing. Maximum of up to 33x10.5 W sidewall designation slick. Max 11.5" tread width (measured at any time) 105" rollout.


Safety:

We encourage an onboard fire suppression system with secondary activation switch located at rear of vehicle. One nozzle directed toward driver, two nozzles in engine compartment directed on engine. All drivers must have suit, gloves, collar, shoes and helmet. Certifications must comply with tracks and or sanctioning body requirements as per speeds and ET'S obtained and type fuel being used. Driver restraint must be equipped with seat belts that meet race tracks and/or sanctioning bodies requirements with two year maximum from date of manufacture. Master disconnect switch is required, it must completely shut off all electrical functions and must be located in plain view at rear of vehicle (Must be marked “off” or “push off”).

Parachute:

Recommend two with separate mounting points. Minimum shank bolt, ½”. Must have sleeve between tether and bolt in. Roll cage padding is mandatory

Interior:

Entry must have stock dash or stock appearing dash for vehicle. Composite or other lightweight material allowed. Entry must have door panels.

AA/Gasser Rules

  1. Weight – 5.5 lbs. per CID blown alcohol. Minimum weight 2200 lbs Weight break 100lbs to torque converter cars. All weights will be with driver.
  2. Body – Body must be pre-‘73coupe or sedan. Customizing is allowed and bodies may be fiberglass, aluminum, or steel. Cars must readily resemble their intended body style. Full trunk line must exist above the rear fenders. Excessive body modifications prohibited. Windshield angle must appear stock. Grills, headlights, and taillights may be painted on. Grill must be a replica of stock. Headlight buckets are required. Grill surface and hood droop should resemble stock dimensions.
  3. Engine – Aluminum blocks and heads are allowed, single mag or single coil ignition, single fuel pump only. Sown nozzles prohibited. Cubic inch displacement limited to 500 cu. In.
  4. Windows – Windshield, back, and side windows may be glass or lexan. Door windows must close.
  5. Fenders – Required. No radical modifications for aerodynamic purposes.
  6. Interior – Nomex upholstery required. Driver must be on left side of car.
  7. Fuel System – Fuel lines are not permitted in the driver’s compartment. Must have fuel shut-off operable from the driver’s seat. Fuel tanks must be equipped with a positive locking screw-on cap. Maximum of one fuel pump, no overdrive. Electric/electronic control of fuel system prohibited. Any system that appears to have control of timing the fuel system must be removed from the car prior to passing technical inspection. No composite materials in injector hat and/or scoop. Composite materials include, but are not limited to, carbon fiber, Kevlar and weave graphite fiber. Scoops limited to 12.5” above throttle body as measured from centerline of throttle shaft to top of scoop. Air intake limited to 65 sq. in.
  8. Supercharger – Single, roots type, no larger than 6-71in size. Fifteen inch rotor and 18.5” case maximum. High helix prohibited. Blower overdrive will be limited to 55%. Supercharger belt guard that protects all fuel, oil and water lines required.
  9. Transmission – Lenco or other planetary transmissions allowed, five forward speeds maximum. SFI Spec 4.1 blanket required.
  10. Frame – Full suspension required on all four wheels. Engine setback limited to 15% of wheelbase. Wheelbase limited to 110” unless otherwise produced. NHRA Pro tag meeting SFI Spec 25.1E required.
  11. Wings – 1000 sq. in. max. Maximum height 80” as measured vertically from ground to trailing edge of wing. Maximum 54” behind vehicle as measured from centerline of rear axle to trailing edge of wind.
  12. Spoilers – Limited to 2500 sq. in. Maximum side plate height of 5”. Maximum wicker 2.5”. Spoilers must not extend more than 12” behind rearmost body panel and cannot be wider than car body. Skirting the spoiler into the body is prohibited. Adjustment of spoiler during run prohibited.
  13. Helmet and Protective Clothing – Minimum Snell SA2000 helmet required. SFI Spec 32A/15 full suit required. All suits include neck collar, boots, gloves, and adequate face protection. Boots and gloves must be SFI Spec 3.3/5. Effective 01-01-06 all suits must meet NHRA date stamp requirement.
  14. Driver restraint – All cars must have a 5-point, 3-inch wide harness system meeting SFI Spec 16.1. Fire covers required.
  15. Fire control – All cars require a 20 lb. minimum onboard fire system mounted per manufacture’s instructions. Minimum of one nozzle aimed at the driver and one at the front of the engine. Lower engine containment blanket meeting SFI Spec 7.1 mandatory. On board fir extinguishing systems meeting SFI Spec 17.1 required.
  16. Ignition – Limited to single mag or single coil ignition only.
  17. Brakes/Parachutes – Dual parachutes with fire retardant and 4-wheel brakes mandatory.
  18. Fuel – Alcohol only.



TRUE 10.5

Class Description:

True 10.5 is a heads-up class reserved for stock suspension/back-halved passenger cars and trucks. Must run a maximum 30X10.5 (non-W) slick or 315/325 Drag Radial tire.

CLASS GUIDELINES

BALLAST:

Permanently attached ballast may be added in a NHRA legal manner. Removable ballast for the purpose of classification adjustments is limited to 100 lbs. in a NHRA weight box.

BODY:

The car must retain its original appearance and profiles. Aftermarket fiberglass replacement panels are limited to; hood, hood scoop, fenders, deck lids, doors and bumpers. One piece front-ends are allowed, but must retain factory grill, head lights, and marker lights (no fake or airbrushed grilles allowed). Aftermarket wings and spoilers are permitted, but may not extend more then 10 inches from the transition point with the body to the tip. The driver and passenger doors must be fully operational and must open from the outside.

FIREWALL:

Vehicles must retain factory firewall. No exceptions. You may add a cosmetic overlay, over the unaltered factory firewall. Minor notching for clearance and removable trans’ tunnel acceptable.

HOOD / SCOOPS:

Cowl & forward facing hood scoops are allowed. Scoop or cowl may not exceed more than 8 inches at the highest point of the air inlet opening above the height of the original hood surface.

INTERIOR:

Dash, steering columns, and seats must be in stock locations.

Aftermarket or street-rod columns are permitted. Door panels must be covered or painted. Stock-type pedals in stock location are required. A full stock appearing dashboard with instruments (aftermarket instruments are allowed), and controls must be retained. Interior must be finished and clean in appearance (carpet, paint, powder-coat, tin etc.)

LETTERING / DECALS:

Car lettering is limited to windows, except for 1 major sponsor logo that may appear on the rear quarter panel (decal or name must be no larger than 10" x 36")

SEAT LOCATION:

Two front bucket seats (racing seats OK), or full bench seat with upholstery is required. The back seat may be deleted if it interferes with the roll cage; however, the exposed

area must be carpeted or covered with upholstery

WHEEL TUBS:

Aftermarket wheel tubs are permitted. Grossly oversized tubs are not permitted.

WINDOWS:

Must be factory safety glass, stock appearing Lexan or Plexi-glass. Driver and passenger doors must be fully operational.

The use of bracket racing aids such as optical sensors, delay boxes, stutter boxes, and throttle stops are not allowed.

BRAKES:

Brakes are required on all four wheels. No other restrictions.

CHASSIS / SUSPENSION

FRONT:

Suspension components must all remain in stock locations. Direct bolt-on A-arms are permitted. Tubular K-members that are a direct bolt on are permitted. Sway bars may be removed. Bolt-on kits are permitted!

REAR:

Any rear suspension

DRIVE TRAIN

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:

Automatic transmissions originally produced by any American automobile manufacturer are permitted. Transmission-to-engine adapters are allowed. Aftermarket torque converter, shift kit, valve body, trans-brake, pan cooler, and shifter use are permitted.

MANUAL TRANSMISSION:

*After-market clutch (single disc only) assisted manual transmissions are legal, clutch/automatics or planetary transmissionsare not allowed. Split sliders are also not allowed. All shifts must be made manually without the aid of electric, hydraulic or pneumatic devices. Any manual transmission built by an automotive manufacturer with stock case and gears will race at same weight as an automatic transmission entry

REAREND:

Any rear end is allowed.

ELECTRICAL:

Battery may be relocated. Electric fans and water pump drives are allowed. The charging system is optional and is not required.

ENGINE:

Any production-based engine may be used, crossbreeding of an engine to a different make of body is acceptable, however the stock engine bay and firewall must be retained. There are no restrictions on internal engine modifications.

BLOCK:

Aftermarket, cast-iron or aluminum blocks are permitted

ENGINE MOUNTLOCATION:

Engine must be in stock location. Solid engine mounts and motor plates are permitted. If crossbreeding an engine, valve covers may not touch original factory firewall.

HEADS:

Two valves per cylinder maximum. All billet cylinder heads prohibited.

INTAKE MANIFOLD:

Any manifold allowed

EXHAUST:

Mufflers or Collector mufflers are required. Modification or removal of muffler internals is prohibited (no gutting).

FUEL / FUEL SYSTEMS:

Gasoline or Alcohol only. The WCHRA reserves the right to check gasoline at any time during competition. The addition of chemical additives intended to alter the makeup of the gasoline for increased performance is strictly prohibited. During fuel check, a competitor must identify the brand of gasoline being used. The sample will be considered illegal if it does not match the baseline results (ex. color, dielectric reading +or-.2, and chemical tests) logged by WCHRA. Failure to pass fuel check is grounds for disallowance of the run during competition and disqualification from the event during eliminations.

IGNITION:

Aftermarket battery operated ignitions, multiple-step rev limiters, electronic conversion kits, and external amplifier boxes allowed.

INDUCTION

TURBOCHARGER/SUPERCHARGER:

Roots-type superchargers up to 871 are permitted. Single centrifugal superchargers (F3 or equivalent) are permitted. Turbochargers are restricted to Twin 80mm or Single 106mm. Turbo units will be measured Tip to Tip.

OILING SYSTEMS:

Any oil pan is allowed. Vacuum pumps are acceptable.

ON BOARD DIAGNOSTICS / DATA RECORDERS:

On board diagnostic computers and recorders are permitted. Memory and playback tachometers are allowed.

PARACHUTE:

Required, must meet NHRA safety guidelines.

RADIATORS:

An automotive-type radiator is required.

STEERING:

Rack and pinion allowed on all vehicles.

STREET LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:

All entries are required to have working headlights and tail lights (headlights doors must be fixed open or work manually or automatically on cars so equipped). Brake lights, turn signals are not required to operate.

TIRES:

Contingency Program & Contingency Decals:

In order to become eligible for WCHRA official contingency program, you must first become a member of the WCHRA. You can do this at the WCHRA Event Trailer during registration or on-line at the WCHRA Store. All contingency decals may appear anywhere on the windows in a clear and organized fashion. Contingency decals may not be overlapped or modified. Most decals are available at the WCHRA Event Trailer, but in the event the WCHRA does not have the decals in stock, it is the racer's responsibility to obtain the proper decals to be eligible for the Contingency payout.

RACE DAY POLICY'S

SCALES:

After each qualifying and elimination pass, all cars must stop and weigh at the track scales. If you lose in eliminations, and your opponent fails to make weight you will be reinstated into the eliminations only if you made minimum weight requirements. If both cars failed to make minimum weight, both cars will be disqualified. It is the driver's responsibility to verify with each track scale, the weight of his/her car prior to each race day. There will 5lb error factor allowed.

TOW BACK & TOW VEHICLES:

True 10.5 does not allow tow vehicles of any sort in the staging lanes. All True 10.5 vehicles must drive to scales and return to pits without the aide of any other vehicle.

BYE-RUNS:

All vehicles must take the tree, and run down the 1/4 mile.

All drivers and vehicles must meet current NHRA and track requirements.
