 CLASS DESCRIPTION:

OUTLAW 8.5 is a heads-up class for any and all types of vehicles. This class is
designed around a small 26 X 8.5 "non W" Slick or small  Drag Radial Tire (235x60x15) Frame rails both front and rear must retain stock configuration,
ladder bars are allowed but with a weight penalty. Any single power adder is
allowed, including the use of a nitrous oxide, centrifugal or roots superchargers
and turbocharged combo's. Nitrous and Boost Controllers are permitted!

CLASS GUIDELINES
:

BALLAST:
Permanently attached ballast may be added in a NHRA legal manner. Removable
ballast for the purpose of classification adjustments is limited to 100 lbs. in an
NHRA weight box.

BODY:
The car must retain its original appearance and profiles. Aftermarket fiberglass
replacement panels (MUST BE STOCK APPEARING!)
are limited to; hood, hood scoop, fenders,doors, deck lids and
bumpers.One piece front-ends are allowed (Hood must be separate) and must
retain factory grill,head lights, and marker lights.Aftermarket wings and spoilers
are permitted,but may not extend more than 10 inches from the transition point
with the body to the tip.The driver and passenger doors must open from inside and outside. Lexan Windows are Permitted but must be Stock Appearing .
Maximum allowed Front overhang is 45" Max measured from Front axle centerline
 to forward most part of vehicle.


FIREWALL:
Must retain factory unaltered firewall, in factory location.
A cosmetic overlay is permitted.

HOOD / SCOOPS:
Forward facing hood scoops are prohibited, unless factory equipped. Fiberglass
replacement hoods with "Factory Style" scoop(Cowl-Induction, Thunderbolt, Six-
Pack,Hemi, etc...) are permitted. No Grossly oversized "Cowl Hoods" allowed.
 **Air Cleaner protruding through Flat or short Cowl hood o.k.,no more than 4"**

INTERIOR:
 Door panels, headliner(Prefered), carpet, dashboard are required. Back seat
may be deleted, but must have carpet covering the bare floor.

SEAT LOCATION:
Two front bucket seats prefered, or one bench seat with upholstery required.
 Seats must remain in the stock location.

BRACKET RACING AIDS:
The use of "Reaction Time Devices" Optical Sensors, Delay Boxes, etc, is prohibited!

BRAKES:
The braking system may be upgraded to discs or larger drums, all cars must have
front and rear brakes.

CHASSIS / SUSPENSION:

FRONT SUSPENSION:
Suspension components must all remain in stock locations. Direct bolt-on A-arms
are permitted. Tubular K-members that are a direct bolt on are permitted. Vehicle
must retain factory shock system (struts are only permitted on cars that came
factory equipped). Sway bars may be removed.Aftermarket Bolt-on Front End kits
that use a strut to replace an a-arm type suspension for early Nova/Chevy II`s /
Mustangs,etc..are permitted (Chris Alston, Smith Racecraft, Fat Man,Heidts,
Scotts Hot Rods, T.C.I., etc..)

K-MEMBER:
Aftermarket factory-replacement-type K-member permitted, but must attach to
the chassis using only the original factory OEM-type mounting bolts. No part of
the K-member may be welded to the chassis.

REAR SUSPENSION:
Bolt on traction devices are permitted. Leaf springs may be relocated for tire
clearance purposes.Mini tubs are permitted, no full size wheel tubs will be allowed.
Ladder Bar type Suspension will be legal with a weight penalty.
(Ladder Bar Car Rear frame rails may be notched)
Vehicles using rear coil-over shocks(With springs attached to the shocks),
will receive ladder bar weight add  of 100lbs

FRAME & CHASSIS:
Stock frame rails must be retained in stock locations front and rear.
Notching of rear frame rails for tire clearance is permitted.
Sub frame connectors are permitted.

DRIVE TRAIN:

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS:
Any OEM automatic transmission permitted. Aftermarket torque converter,
shift kit, valve body,shifter, and pan cooler are permitted. Trans brakes O.K.

MANUAL TRANSMISSION:
Manual transmissions are allowed.
Clutch/Automatics or planetary transmissions are not allowed.
All shifts must be made manually without the aid of electric,
hydraulic or pneumatic devices.

EFI:
Any EFI system is permitted

ENGINE:
Cross-Breeding is O.K.

ENGINE BLOCK:
Aftermarket Cast Iron & Aluminum blocks are allowed.

ENGINE MOUNT LOCATION:
Engine must remain in stock location. Engine may not touch the factory
unaltered firewall. **Motor plates are permitted**

CARBURETOR / THROTTLE BODY:
Any single or dual carburetor or throttle body set-up is allowed

NITROUS OXIDE:
All nitrous systems are allowed. Nitrous oxide commercially available,
thermostatically controlled blanket-type warmer accepted. Any other external
heating of bottles prohibited.The use of any agents other than nitrous oxide as
part of, or mixed with, this pressurized fuel system is prohibited. If an entry is
presented to tech as a non-nitrous weight break, all nitrous oxide lines,fittings,
solenoids, and bottles must be removed before car is allowed to pass tech.

SUPERCHARGER / TURBOCHARGER:
 Roots OK **Screw Superchargers are not allowed**
Centrifugal Superchargers,Turbocharger/Turbochargers are Permitted
All air entering the turbocharger must pass through the
turbocharger inlet. Injection of any liquid, gas or any other substance into the
inlet or exhaust housing is prohibited. 
     

EXHAUST:
Production type mufflers are required.(Mufflers not required on TurboCharged entries)
 Modification or removal of muffler internals is prohibited. (no gutting)
Side Exit Exhaust (Fender) Permitted on Turbo Entries only!


FUEL / FUEL SYSTEMS
:
Gasoline or Alcohol ONLY!. The WCHRA reserves the right to check gasoline at any time!
IGNITION:
No restrictions

OILING SYSTEM:
No Restrictions.

ON BOARD DIAGNOSTICS / DATA RECORDERS:
On board diagnostic computers and recorders are permitted. Memory and
playback tachometers are allowed.

RADIATOR:
Functional cooling system required.

STEERING:
Rack and Pinion allowed on all vehicles.

STREET LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
All cars are required to have working headlights and tail lights (headlights doors
must be fixed open or work manually or automatically on cars so equipped).
Brake lights, turn signals are (Prefered).

TIRES:
Front tires must have a minimum tread width of 4.5 inches. Front tires do not
have to be DOT approved.
Rear Tires..maximum 26 x 8.5 Slick(NO W`s or Experimental Tires,
Max.Measured width 9 inches) or 235 x 60-15 Drag Radial Tire

WHEEL BASE:
Must retain stock wheel base with a maximum variation right to left and front
to back of one inch.

WHEELIE BARS:
Wheelie bars are strictly prohibited.

WCHRA REQUIRED DECALS:

CLASS SPONSOR DECAL:
Sponsor decal must be installed on base of windshield on the passenger side.
(Bottom left hand side when looking at front of vehicle windshield)

SERIES SPONSOR:
Sponsor decal must be installed on base of windshield on the driver’s side.
(Bottom right hand side when looking at front of vehicle windshield)

EVENT SPONSOR DECAL:
Sponsor decal must be installed on base of windshield on the drivers side.
(Bottom right hand side when looking at front of vehicle windshield)
Decals will be available during registration at the WCHRA Event Trailer

CONTINGENCY DECALS:
All contingency decals may appear anywhere on the windows in a clear and
organized fashion.Contingency decals may not be overlapped or modified.
Most decals are available at the WCHRA Event Trailer, but in the event the
WCHRA does not have the decals in stock, it is the racer's responsibility to
obtain the proper decals to be eligible for Contingency payout.

WCHRA Point System:
We will be calculating points at each event, and will crown a champion at the
conclusion of the season.

RACE DAY POLICIES:

SCALES:
After each qualifying and elimination pass, all cars must stop and weigh at
the track scales. If you lose in eliminations and your opponent fails to make
weight, you will be reinstated into the eliminations only if you made minimum
weight requirements. If both cars failed to make minimum weight, both cars
will be disqualified. It is the driver's responsibility to verify with each track scale,
the weight of his/her car prior to each race day.
There will be a 5lb error factor allowed.

TOW BACK & TOW VEHICLES
OUTLAW 8.5 entries are allowed to tow to from the scales to the pits...No towing from the finish line to the scales!
(Unless authorized by a WCHRA Official)

BYE-RUNS:
Vehicles must take the tree, and run down the 1/8 mile.

All drivers and vehicles must meet current NHRA and track requirements.
